Parent Communication Letter - December 1, 2023
Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, children need to turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024 in order to be automatically eligible for kindergarten. This is a change from the current kindergarten cutoff date of January 1. (CGS Section 1 of Public Act 23-208, Section 1).
To learn more, read the New Entry Age for Kindergarten information sheet for families (English) (Spanish) from the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE).
The Darien Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Robin Nelson to the Board. Robin, a registered Republican, will fill a vacant Republican seat with a term that ends November 2024. She comes to the Board with a strong history of volunteerism to the District and Community. In addition to welcoming Robin, the Board of Education would like to thank all the candidates who participated in the process. We had a great group of applicants who each understood the value of our school system and the importance our community places on volunteerism and service.
Any members of the public questions or comments may contact the Board Chair Duke Dineen at ddineen@darienps.org or Vice Chair Jill McCammon at jmccammon@darienps.org.
